Navel Piercing Care

All about Navel Piercing Care and Treatment

Navel Piercings are tantamount to an invasion of one’s body, almost like a surgical procedure although on a dramatically smaller scale. When you engage in Navel Piercing, you are penetrating your skin, generally with jewelry. You may look better and more attractive, but your “invaded skin” will need to heal. And that will take some time and also require you to follow specific procedures.

The care and treatment for post-Navel Skin Piercings is very straightforward and somewhat simple. As with any healing “wound,” you need to keep the affected area, clean, dressed and protected with an antibiotic ointment. Sounds simple … and it is actually quite easy. However, many people who pierce their navels tend to be young females. Too often, they forget or simply don’t bother to follow-up the piercing with the necessary care because the area – their navel, “feels good and doesn’t hurt.”

Navel Piercing CareThat’s a mistake. Left untreated, a newly-pierced navel stands a very good chance of developing an itchy and very annoying rash or less-than-photogenic scar tissue. Those negative results should – and can – be avoided, easily and with little effort.

If you’re planning to get a Navel Piercing or if you’ve already gotten one, follow these simple steps for proper care and treatment of your “invaded navel area.” Here’s what you need to do …

(1) Wash Your Navel Area Twice Daily … the best times to do this are in the morning and again in the evening. Make sure that when you wash, you use a good antibacterial soap. It will help speed the healing process and will not cause you to break out in a rash.

(2) Gently Pat Your Washed Navel Dry … simply use paper tissues of gauze to dry your navel, but do not use a towel. Interestingly, a towel can breed bacteria and cause infection.

(3) Always Sanitize Your Hands … wash your hands thoroughly before you begin to treat your navel. Do it every time … make it part of your routine. When you do, you eliminate the risk of introducing bacteria or germs to your recently-pierced navel. And that assures that you will not suffer a rash or some other troublesome, but minor, ailment.

(4) Apply a Diluted Salt Solution to Your Navel – every day! When you do this – for about five minutes daily – you allow the solution you’ve applied to “soak up” dried material from your navel, like blood and bacteria. This small, but important, step will help keep your navel from developing an infection … and it will greatly speed up the healing process.

Follow these simple, but very effective, steps every day and the Navel Piercing in which you engaged will have only positive results. It will help you look better and more attractive … build your self-confidence and self-esteem … and it will all happen without the unwanted side effects of infection or annoying rash.

Plan your Navel Piercing today … and, at the same time, prepare to treat it effectively so that you can avoid Granulation and/or rashes. You’ll be glad you did things the right way.
